Patty Boy

Relevant Magazine recently found an online petition asking Pat Robertson to “please retire or at least stop making unfounded, insane-sounding comments and trying to pass them off as mainstream Christian thought.” The petition is called CAPS—”Christians Against Pat Speaking”. I signed it.

  4. He’s a guy that most people who aren’t immersed in a religious or church world, consider to be the normative “type” of person of what a “Christian” is. He’s made some statements recently that continue to paint Christians as moderators of this conservative, extreme political movement. Where basically God is only concerned with America and Israel and hates everybody else. And in more specific only “messianic” Jews (which mean that they believe in Jesus) and “born-again” Christians, are the only ones who God is pleased with. And anybody who goes against either of these 2 groups, is probably going to “get it” from God.

That’s probably a bit of an exageration. But many of my friends who have different beliefs than that of Christianity have equated my faith with the beliefs, attitude, and actions of people like Pat Robertson and others. The petition is a light hearted poke at that.
