From A Porch
Well we made it to Daphne after our wedding marathon.
Currently my mom is cooking some fish, I’m sitting in a rocking chair on a front porch, pirating a neighbor’s wireless signal, while listening to cows “moo” in the distance, and watching birds chase each other across the front yard.
Today we met up with an old friend of mine from high school and who is a local pastor and had lunch. It was good to catch up and talk about the struggles and joys of work and life and ministry. It’s always good to have a friend who is in the same situation as you and knows exactly what you’re wrestling with and thinking about and dreaming about. And you only have to say a couple of words and they start shaking their heads in agreement. It helps you to know you’re not alone, or as Pagitt said in our podcast, “at least it’s good to find company in a group of heretics.” Or something to that affect although I can’t remember the exact literal wording of what I said.
Tomorrow we’re going to the beach and meeting up with our newlywed friends, Nick and Leslie. And will enjoy the spoils of reception “leftovers”.
And that for now . . . is your travel update.
