Favorite Movie.
With our podcast with Tony Jones coming shortly, and my quasi-deep post on The Art of Slow Living earlier in the week, I thought I’d keep things on the lighter side. Thus, my unveiling of my comic book checkered past with the Spider-Man post. And today, I present to you more superfluous fluff by recommending to you my favorite movie and asking you what yours is?
For me, it has to be Empire Records. Of course movies like Lord of the Rings and Legends of the Fall certainly deserve some consideration. But despite the epic-ness of these films, I have to go with something much simpler. Thus, I present to you Empire Records.
With a few of my favorite actors/actresses in Ethan Embry (who was apart of one of the top 5 shows of all time in FreakyLinks), Robin Tunney (who was excellent in Winter Passing), and Rory Cochrane. Not to mention a young Renee Zellweger and Liv Tyler.
Plus . . . it’s freaking Rex Manning Day! “Say no mor, mon amor.”
For a movie that gives a pretty good picture of what and who I was in high school, this is it.
Your turn my people.

I’d have to say “Rushmore” takes the cake. Dry, witty, slightly absurd, killer soundtrack, and the lines “Sic tranist gloria: glory fades.” Classic. And the slow-motion scene where Maxwell Fischer sticks his gum on the side of the elevator – that’s cinematic magic I tell you…

as vulgar as it is, i think i’m going to have to go with clerks. that film has lyrical conversations, unexpected star wars references, dick and fart jokes galore, i mean what’s not to love?
that’s all i’ve got for now. it’s time for this monkey to start pushin’ buttons.

gentry,
have you heard about clerks 2? i’m sure you ahve so i hate to even ask.
james,
i love rushmore, but its #3 for me on wes’s list. with tenebaums being 1 and life aquatic 2. you know you’re good in my book when your 3rd best movie is rushmore.
d10,
i’ve done some research on “hand on hard body”. i may have broken the rules but the suspense was killing me. and btw, there is no wiki on it. you may want to take a stab at it.
