Muslims, Texas, & Pig Races.

You should check this out. I know it’s not the highest form of journalism (Jon Stewart) but I’ll link to the legit stuff below. Basically there is a group of American Muslim citizens . . . The Katy Islamic Association . . . who want to build a mosque, school, and community center for the 500 Muslim families of the small Houston suburb. But there are some local residents who are up in arms.

As a form of protest the local residents have decided to start having pig races on Friday nights on the property line of the adjacent property. Friday nights is the Muslim holy day. Like the Sunday is for Christians. And pigs are also considered to be an unholy animal. In my opinion, and the feelings of the KIA . . . this is the equivalent of burning crosses in the yards of African-Americans.

It’s uncalled for. Un-American. Racist. And oppressive.

Hmm, I have family and friends in Katy. Spent a lot of my childhood vacations there. I wonder what they think. Actually, I’m pretty sure I already know.
