Captain America Dies.
It’s all over folks. Captain America was assassinated yesterday. He was on trial for violating the Superhuman Registration Act and for engaging in the Civil War that pitted super hero against super hero. Captain America proudly defended his country against Hitler in WWII but was never afraid to ask the tough questions of his government and politicians, challenging and critiquing their shady politics.
I’m sure most of you are laughing at this point. But it should be said that this is a really big deal in the comic world. Super heroes don’t just die. And if they do, they always come back, ala Superman. What makes this even more of a story is that Captain America was one of the first super heroes. He’s been around since 1941. And has always fought against “nations of evil”. I’m curious if Marvel quit because they didn’t want to offend anyone. Or maintain an image of aggressive American force at this point in history. Because you don’t just kill of a super hero without a reason.
Marvel will keep the series around for 5 more episodes in which it will follow 5 other heroes who were close to Captain America. It will begin with Wolverine and then move onto the Avengers, the group he formerly led. Wolverine’s art is below and it is superb.

He’ll be back and tied to a tremendous marketing stunt from Marvel.

At least he took out the Red Skull before he could reincarnate the Reich and Hitler. Well maybe he didn’t. Cheney does have a striking resemblence to the Red Skull, and it looks like the third reich came to power in 2000. Bailey never got to read a Captain America. But he likes X-Men (Wolverine), I was always partial to The Silver Surfer.

I’m glad I’m not the only one who took offense to this tragedy. The only slight redemption I found in this (although wildly shallow) is the quote I read that went something like “Steve Rogers was killed, Captain America is a figure and can never die.”
So, inevitably, they’ll reinvent the character with a new alter-ego and bring him out again!
LOVE YOUR BANNER! I don’t know if you did it yourself or not but it’s great!

and thanks worshipcity. i did the banner. but i agree, they’ll probably just let him lay dormant for a while and then resurrect him somehow.

Sure, just like Superman died in 91. Then he was back in 5 separate reincarnations. Hear that? It’s the sound of marvel counting the money you spent on this particular issue…
Somewhere along the line comics quit being great stories and just became tools of marketing.
Thanks for nothing.

this pic is wrong wolverine is not made of metal, as indicated by the solid indentations in his body. they should be normal bullet holes with some of them healing
