No More MySpace.
As of midnight tonight . . . you will no longer find me on MySpace. I’m following the lead of my good friend Nick and deleting my account.
I’m tired of having to look at advertisements. Gyrating women on the home page. And advertisements for horrible movies like Kill John Tucker and Tokyo Drift.
It’s a waste of my time. And I’m realizing that I’m becoming a bit of a data addict. It’s time I unplug from things that waste my time. I mean do I really need to essentially spy on all of my friends, past and present, to see what they’re up to. Secretly rooting for some to fall. And others to succeed.
It’s just become slimy for me.
UPDATE: It’s official. 12:28 am Time of Death.

Good decision. I respect it greatly.
I refuse to get a myspace. And I was beginning to look like the only person on earth without one.

amen. i keep mine, but only for the sake of three or four friends who i’d lose complete contact with otherwise… but who i really don’t want to lose contact with.

I just quit Virb. And I almost deleted myspace, but…thought I’d keep it because of high school reunions and such.
But I guess Facebook would be more likely a starting point. That NYTimes article is making me think about this stuff.
Bastard.

Nice move. Did you find it rather frustrating all the “Are you sure you want to delete your account” messages? Must be the internet’s version of AOL.

yeah i’m like you guys. going to attempt to use facebook as the new myspace. that is of course until they get pimped out with ads.
and i haven’t deleted virb yet cleave. i’m waiting for people to catch on. but i agree. nobody really uses it now although its far superior. i’ll wait around until there are more people available for connections.

Dude. AdBlock Plus.
Seriously, if ads are the problem, nuke em w/ above.
If it’s cause of time/data addiction, nuke the virb and facebook. I never thought I would use myspace, but it turns out it was really the only free way to reliably find old high school friends.

I feel so alone in the world. I never had myspace. Doesn’t appear I missed out on much.
