Weekends With Anna.
So I love my wife. It seems like we ever rarely get to spend a whole day together, but when we do . . . it’s fun.
Today . . . she had to run some errands before an all girls party (which I tried to get invited to). She went to get her hair cut, returned some stuff, and dropped off some invitations. So I decided to go with her. So we spent the whole morning in the car laughing at the oddities that both of us come up with. Ironically, I think she’s becoming like me and I like her.
Here’s one such scenario. We’re going to Destin beginning on Tuesday. I’ve been wanting to try some after dinner cordials or liqueur. It’s what they do on The Sopranos after heavy meals because it aids in digestion. So I told her I might buy a small bottle for my friend and I to have after our more than likely heavy seafood meals. This is where it gets good. I tell her this and she says,
Anna: You can’t do that!
Me: Why not?
Anna: It’s illegal to carry alcohol across state lines.
Me: . . . .
Anna: We can get arrested.
Me: When would we get arrested or how would they catch us?
Anna: If we got pulled over.
Me: When have you ever been pulled over and had your suitcases searched for illegal state transfers of after dinner cordials?
Anna: She laughs.
Which then leads us to a rehashing of a conversation we had last week when she told me that she couldn’t open a mustard packet at Chik-Fil-A because she was laughing and when she laughs your hands go numb. I told her I had never heard of that before. And she told me that she thought it was like that for everybody. That your hands go numb when you laugh. I told her it was an oddity.
And that is why I love Anna.

That is sweet. Really, I’m not being snarky. These are the moments that make marriages last and deepen. If you each make the other laugh and think the other is funny (most of the time), then you will have a great marriage over the years. Stacey and I crack each other up, usually about stuff that only the two of us would find funny…which, perhaps, is the point.
Couples that laugh together, stay together.

I’ve had this, and found it to be pretty good.
And, I agree with John about the sweet moments of marriage.

Yeah, OK. The link didn’t exactly work right. “Tequila Rose” is the stuff. They make a couple of flavors. It has a little kick, and it’s a little sweet (which some people aren’t as fond of). Just a little recommendation.

It’s good to laugh with your spouse. And it’s hilarious to find out some of the things they believe are true for everyone but you’ve never heard before. It’s also quite interesting when you realize that you’ve held a belief about something that the other person finds particularly outrageous because they’ve never heard of that before.
