Jordon Cooper on Simplicity – Humbly and well confessed; that’s what I’ve been trying to articulate for the past year but unable to do so in that tone and scope
US rethinking democracy for Iraq – So if this was the whole point of the war according to W, then what does that mean about the success of the last 5 years and the honor of those who have lost their lives? Secondly, how did it get to this point? Even if you believe in and support the war (which I previously did so I’m not scapegoating) you have to admit that things have fallen absolutely and totally apart. And at this point, what is the point of staying? And with all of this talk about getting rid of al-Maliki (although he’s been right about all of his “future-casting”) does anyone else get the eerie feeling that we’re about to get a replay of 1970s & 80s Latin America & African puppet dictators that the US set up? And you have to be pretty dimwitted to not realize that it wasn’t going to be as romantic and idealized as you thought it was going to be once you toppled Saddam. To think that another attempt at colonialism (for the sake of democracy) was going to work in this day and age.
This Scares Me – Like I’ve previously said, ramping up the rhetoric. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.
MySpace, MTV, & the Election – This sounds like an interesting partnership. But call me crazy . . . aren’t the majority of “voting age” social networkers using Facebook and listening to indie music. Maybe things have changed, but I thought you grew out of MySpace and MTV when you left high school and graduated to Facebook and Iron & Wine.
Shameful Wiki Spin Jobs – If you haven’t heard there’s a new tool out called the WikiScanner that lets you find out who changes the Wiki pages. This is a link that shows you how companies change and modify their images. Something that I accused L.L. Bean of doing last year. And something that in my cursory glances I found evangelical leaders and prominent pastors doing as well.
