A Vision of Students Today

I was meeting with a local pastor and friend today and he showed me this really interesting video. It is from the authors of the YouTube meme The Web Is Using Us. They have created another video that I think is equally good. It takes a look at students, education, and technology. Exploring the art [...]

The Problems of Deism & It’s Possibilities: Some Problems

The Overview
Let’s go ahead and get the problems out of the way so I can talk about a few possibilities tomorrow. For the most part these should be pretty obvious.
Problem 1: God is mechanistic and industrial
This was covered in the overview but God ultimately gets shaped into the God of the Industrial age. He makes [...]

Cilantro Garlic Smoked Pork Loin

Seriously . . . not to be cocky . . . but I should have went to culinary school like I planned and never went to “seminary”.
Tonight’s dish was a variation of my previously mentioned smoked pork loin. Again GroupRecipes brings me the starting point and I modded it for our tastes. And I have [...]

Nick on Prayer

Nick is blogging content and has some great thoughts on prayer. Read this as backdrop for my coming thoughts on deism.

YourStreet & Hyperlocal News

Here’s a cool new site I found last night that has some potential functionality. It’s called YourStreet. If you’re like me, you don’t read the paper anymore and rely almost exclusively on web media for your daily news. But most sites that I read our national and international. There aren’t many local alternatives without having [...]

The Problems of Deism & It’s Possibilities: An Overview

The Weekend: Appendix G

Anna and I had a really good weekend. Had a long heart to heart conversation about life, goals, vision, conflict, communication, work, etc. Went to the mountains with our new friends Corley & Meg. Took Jack to the vet. Went grocery shopping. Made some bison chili. Worked in the yard. Harvested some cattails for a [...]

Nose Hair: Grossness Disclaimer

Let’s start the week off right.
Just a head’s up. This is kind of gross and I’m sort of laying myself out on the line in an attempt to show you the true Josh, so please be kind.
Truth be told . . . I’m a hairy dude. I trim my chest hair, armpit hair, and other [...]

Bison Chili

This is what we had for dinner tonight courtesy of GroupRecipes.com (the Facebook of recipes and the coolest recipe site around).

We modded out beef for bison and a few other ingredients from the original. This is our Bison Chili hax.

1 lbs ground bison
1 can red kindey beansrinsed and drained
24 oz can of [...]

Enough Said

You never know what you’re going to find when you go off the “main roads”. This is what we passed this weekend.
For those who aren’t adept at picking up the subtleties of awesomeness . . . there is no such thing as “ninja training” unless you’re in a ninja culture. There is the martial arts [...]
