Birthday Party.
This is a really lame idea. But I’m thinking about having a Google birthday party. Anna is taking me out to a movie (Golden Compass) and for some fattening Zaxby’s. So I’ll be spending the day with her. But I was thinking maybe tomorrow afternoon/night throwing a Google Chat Party. The first of it’s kind.
Google recently unrolled private chat rooms within gMail. So I’m thinking of just hanging out for about 30 minutes and inviting some of my friends.
I’ve been thinking about having online parties for a while now. The Tall Skinny Kiwi got me thinking about them. Maybe once a week or every couple of weeks throwing a little lunch break party for about 15-30 minutes. And we can talk about whatever. A blog post, a particular piece of theology, or we can just let chaos reign. I used to love chat rooms and I’m not sure why or how it couldn’t be done. But not sure if there is any interest.
So the first question is, would you come to my Google Birthday Party tomorrow to celebrate my birthday on Friday?
And secondly, would you be interested in a bi-weekly or monthly Google Chat Session?
Or is this the lamest idea ever?

it’s definitely lame but thats cool, the whole internet subculture is kind of lame so it fits right in.
what would a “google party” look like? i mean after the happy birthdays are exchanged what then? e-presents, e-cake with e-candles? actually, the more i think of it this is a pretty kick ass idea!
yeah, an online, chat room party is a great idea! i wont be there for it but give an update on your blog of who was there, who got crunked and who hooked up with who.

well, first i’m pretty new to reading your blog. so, in that respect i don’t know that you would consider me a friend. i don’t say that to guilt trip anybody, but that’s just reality. maybe i shouldn’t have said it at all, but whatever.
anyway, i think that’s an awesome idea. who knows, maybe that will be another thing of the future. online parties. you should think about a patent…or something.

exactly. it is lame. like the old AOL chat rooms.
what i’m thinking is that everybody brings a google video or a lame link and we can all just trade crappy internet links for 15 minutes or so. and just let chaos ensue.
here’s what you need then. you have to have a gmail/google account. which i’m guessing most people have. if not, it’s free and you should sign up for anyway because it’s far superior to any other free email service out there.
once you have a gmail account, email me your account name and i’ll make a list of people to invite. all you’ll have to do then is be signed on to gmail at a certain time, and i’ll invite you to the chat session.
this is going to be old school.
who prefers afternoon and who prefers night?
