My First Haircut In Over A Year.

I feel like I can fly. I really feel so aerodynamic. I kind of want to get in a wind tunnel to check and see if the contours of my head are in the right places.

I’ve always had somewhat shaggy, long hair. But always had to keep it under control because I worked at a church. But when I quit I decided to grow a massive beard which I had always wanted to do but was never allowed to do. And I had always wanted to have 80’s rock band hair, but was never able to do so either. And I have a strong connection to kids who struggle through cancer having worked for 6 months with a great group, with many of the staff and volunteers donating their hair. And I always felt guilty carrying around my luscious locks around these amazing kids who were bald. It felt like I was flaunting my hair at them. I made a vow then to one day grow my hair out for them. So about a year ago, I made the decision to go ahead and grow my hair out and donate it via Locks for Love.

Unfortunately, Locks for Love requires your hair to be 10 inches. And I’ve just run out of steam here at the end have been unable to make it to 10 inches. So my backup plan all along was to go with Beautiful Lengths, who only requires 8 inches. I got to 7 inches about 6 months ago but my hair effectively quit growing about the same time. After tiring of eating horse vitamins and wearing pony tails everyday, I decided to abort and go with Beautiful Lengths.

So alas . . . today . . . I made the plunge and had Anna do the honors. She then took pictures. I now no longer look like a hippie and am slowly acclimating back to the land of the normal. My guess is that will last a few weeks and then I’ll be back to subverting what it means to be “good-looking”.

Here’s the full set of pictures.

Disclaimers:

1) In the first two pictures, that’s not dandruff. There was a fleck on Anna’s camera lens. I swear.

2) If anybody makes fun of my weight or gut, I will stab you. I realize it’s a problem and have lost 10 lbs in 2 months. Seriously, it’s kind of awkward showing pictures with my chest exposed for the world to see. I tried to cover my nipples when appropriate. But I’m married ladies . . . so please respect that.

3) My feet are that hairy normally. I have Hobbit feet.

4) And I was recently (this afternoon) made aware of a growing bald spot. I’m still recovering from that so let’s not make mention of that either.

Two of my daughters sent their hair to “Locks of Love”. It’s a great cause. Way to go, dude!

wow… josh in his underwear.

we have to be able to use these pics as blackmail somehow. :)

And I hate cutting my hair. I tend to it about once a year, with it never getting quite long enough to donate. maybe next time…
