Anna Is Pregnant!.

We just found out Saturday night. Drove to Alabama and got in about 3:30 am. Stayed at my brother’s house. Woke my parents up Sunday morning and told them. Then my parents and 2 brothers drove to Destin to tell Anna’s parents. Drove back to Alabama. Went to sleep. Taught my mom how to use a Mac. And drove back home and just got in. So we’re super excited. And I know most people wait a while before they tell everyone, but we’re pretty open people and most :) of you guys feel like family to me. So yeah . . . we’re jazzed. We’ve been trying to call people as much as we can to let them know ourselves but in between spending a time in a car with interstate background noise and a minivan full of family, we haven’t had much time to ourselves. Or to think. Or to call many people. We’ve spent the last 36 hours in 3 states and 17 hours of car driving with a dog.

Most of you who we haven’t talked to yet should be getting a call tomorrow after we get some much needed sleep. Sorry if I haven’t emailed you back. But my inbox is a bit backed up. And I’ve got a super hectic week so blogging will be sparse. But just wanted to let all of you guys know I’m going to be a dad! Which is scary and humbling and scary.

Congrats…way to go!

Just last night I was talking to some friends who are trying to get pregnant sometime this year. And it was hilarious advice that my friends father-in-law gave him. They are at a family function and he leans over and says to my friend, “You want my advice on getting her pregnant, plant it deep.” Yes, he said “plant it deep.” Unfreakin-real.

Cheers.

Dude, congrats to you guys. I remember how Anna recently posted this thing about Jack being like a child and how several of us thought that was going to be her way of saying she was preggers….I knew it was an omen…..congrats, for real….

Awesome news – congratulations to both of you!

I hope Anna is feeling ok – pregnancy can be rough especially in the first few months.

Hey this might be the end of you lying awake at night – you’ll be too tired to lie awake any more once your baby arrives :)

(Babies are great but they sure do change your life)

Congratulations to you both! Your lives are about to be flipped upside down, but in a most incredible, beautiful way. You guys will be awesome parents! I suggest you DO consider Lamaze, not for the “information” but for the community and conversation of others going through the same thing…Blessings!!!

I would say being a good father begins by respecting what your wife is going to go through in the next several months and being as supportive as you can.

Not that you wouldn’t be that way, Josh – this is a response re: Lamaze.

If Anna wants to go to Lamaze (or other childbirth classes) I recommend you go. I think it should be her choice since she’s the one who has to have the baby. It’s a scary thing that the baby will have to come out someday :) . Part of the purpose of classes is helping women pregnant for the first time feel less scared about childbirth, by talking about it and teaching some techniques.

(It’s true you may never get to use those techniques but so what if classes help women prepare mentally and emotionally for the day of delivery)

Oh how this blog will change once the baby comes!
I echo all who said Go to some type of parenting/birthing class – mostly for the camaraderie with others who are in the same boat.
Yep, you might just get sympathy cravings during the next many months.
Hint: third trimester you might want to offer frequest foot massages, and whatever ‘mester you’re in during July and HotAugust, do anything you can to make Anna feel comfortable. Really. It will go a long way toward keeping your marriage healthy.
Oh and totally congratulations.

Sooo, are we going to get to vote on a name (not that you’d use it of course, but it might be vicarious fun for all of us!)
