LOST Recap.

Many apologies for my lack of posts this week. And for being a day late with my LOST recap. But here goes . . .

Last night was the best episode I’ve seen in about a year. It was crazy. And I no some people won’t be into the whole time travel, sci-fi thing as it develops, but as for me and my house . . . I can’t get enough of it. I absolutely love Desmond. He’s my favorite character by far. He’s the only guy who I truly empathize with. He’s been the one character who hasn’t been all over the place. Evil one week but good the next. Or vice versa. He’s been consistently and hopelessly wrecked because of his separation from Penny. And I love that.

So here are a couple of reflections . . . and ARE NOT spoilers. Just speculation

I think Michael was the one on the boat who left the door open Desmond & Sayid, when Mikownsky said, “Looks like you have a friend on the boat.”

I think it’s Charles Widmore’s boat. And Penny found out about his expedition and that’s how she kept trying to tap into the frequency to contact Desmond. That’s why “their boss” doesn’t want them answering the call when it came from her. It’s her dad and he’s trying to stop her.

Apparently, Desmond’s friends (the priest & the ring lady) from the past also went to Oxford at some point. Perhaps they visited Farraday as well.

I also think Daniel Farraday is experiencing the same things as Desmond. That’s why he put that Desmond will be his constant.

So the real question that begs to be asked is will Desmond be able to control it now? Will he be able to change it? And is this something different than what he experienced when he turned the fail-safe and the hatch imploded?

I wonder if Desmond is really in 1994 and is flashing to the future? Or if what happened in 94 really happened but he just forgot about it? Or is time just moving on multiple planes? But why didn’t he recognize Farraday in the present? So it’s clearly that they can change the course of time and the events in history.

There is also a good theory online that Charlie was Desmond’s first “constant”. Because he saw him in the past and he saw him in the present. And once Charlie died, he lost it and had to find another one.

Another great theory floating around is that the sickness that Danielle described is the same sickness that Desmond was experiencing. Which makes perfect sense. Wish I would have made that connection myself.

Crazy theory time . . . Jack and Kate go back to the island but do so in the far past and are the skeletons in the cave. Thus when they go back, they do so not in the present, but in the past, in order to change the events that will happen in the future. That’s really crazy I know. But the time travel stuff changes everything.

Your last paragraph just blew my mind. Far fetched I know, but holy hell… what if?

Also, what did you think of the auction scene? I still think Richard Alpert is originally from the Black Rock, but I’m not sure how he might relate to the Hanso story line… yet.. Any thoughts?

I just finished the latest episode and wholeheartedly agree with your feelings about Desmond and this episode being one of the bests… But where in the world is this going to end! I’m blown away by another story line.

I had a dream last night that was like what Desmond was doing, except I ended up doing things like walking into my apartment and out of it, and time had changed by days or weeks… and then that one time I found myself parachuting into a battlezone near my apartment…

…I’ve been detoxing from caffeine, so I’m sure that had a lot to do with it.

Anyway, I like Desmond too. Even if I felt like his thing was a bit “Butterfly Effect” with Ashton Kutcher.

Good call on Michael – it make sense. Our power went out during Lost on Thursday so I missed bits of it, which was really annoying. But I was amazed at how many “answers” they gave us… which in true Lost fashion just bring up more questions.

One thing that always bothered me about that picture of the priest and the ring lady was that it is so obviously FAKE! The shadows are different on their faces. I know that the photograph probably would have been photoshopped anyway (like when they photoshopped Penny in the picture with Desmond when the actress was changed) but why does it look so extremely fake? It doesn’t make sense to me to not have had the ring lady and the priest to have at least posed together (and then photoshop them onto the Oxford college background).

This episode just screened in the UK.

Yep. Pretty good.

I don’t think the “Oxford” scenes were Oxford. They certainly weren’t part of Queen’s College, or any part I’ve ever seen. No hidden message there, I’m sure, just slack work by the assistant producer, I guess.
