Twitter

Apparently there are some (Eric & Phil) that don’t like the daily Twitter feeds that get pulled into the RSS. Let’s take a vote. Who cares if they arere there? Who wants me to take them down? Who could care less? Who enjoys them? Who would find it just as easy to gloss over them in their feed readers? I’m convinced that you have to be a Twitter user to appreciate and “get” Twitter. That’s not a slam, just really curious as to how many of you think it’s an annoyance and how many are mildly intrigued?

  1. I say keep it. It’s not like every Twitter update you make hits the RSS feed all by itself. The occasional summary is nice, and easy to skip over for those who don’t like it. Granted, I follow you in Twitter, but if I ever quit I’d be nice to still have those summary posts here.

  2. i’m so glad someone else mentioned how little they cared about what you were currently digesting. :)

  3. Hmm. I’d say if you care about the twitter stuff, you’d use twitter to follow it. I find it a little annoying, honestly.

I understand the appeal of twitter (even if I don’t do it), but I don’t understand the idea of posting twitter summaries to a blog’s rss.

    Count me with Eric.

  4. Uh, excuse me, I didn’t say I didn’t like them, I said it was silly for you to complain about “this is what I ate for breakfast” blogs, and then make twitter be at minimum a third and more realistically half of your content.

    I’d say leave them in.

  5. i use twitterific like a mad man and get updates that way. the feed is nice since they’re all grouped together in a digest (i’d probably be pretty annoyed if each update had its own feed), but i usually end up skipping over them in my rss reader.

so, i guess i’m agnostic about it. it makes no difference to me.

  6. I find them annoying. And I agree, if I wanted to know your twitter updates, I will follow you on Twitter. Thanks for the vote though!

  7. I’m for Twittering on the RSS feed. I’m way too lazy to have to subscribe to another feed, but I like to read the updates.

    Everyone else can suck it.

  8. I like the status update function in facebook, so I suspect I’d like twitter. You’d think I’d just gloss over the twitter updates when they come up in google reader, but for some reason I find them fascinating.

  10. I’m intrigued. Not into Twitter yet but enjoy seeing how people use it. And it doesn’t bother me in the RSS feed.

  11. doesn’t matter a bit. i had to ask myself if my tweets were nearly important enough to put anywhere at all… especially when i found out some people were getting them on their phone. geez… nothing i say is THAT important.

maybe that’s the question you should ask yourself.

  14. i like the one twitter post per day on the blog.

what i don’t like is that i also have an rss feed for facebook status messages, which means:

    (a) i get your twitters twice (and presumably would get them 3 times after I start using twitter myself)

    (b) my facebook friends status RSS feed is dominated by my two friends who use twitter - probably 2/3 of status updates come from from 2 people.

so, my advice is keep the single post per day on your blog but uninstall the facebook app that inserts it into your status message.

  16. I use live bookmarks on firefox for my rss feed, so i don’t even have to look at posts if the title doesn’t interest me (like tweets). Granted, I’m not a Mac user yet, but will be soon. I don’t know if I’ll use firefox anymore or if safari has livebookmarks.

  18. I like getting it through u on twitter, but I gave up on twitter for my own use as no one in my closer circle actually used it. But, it’s cool to get a daily digest of your tweets. I wish other bloggers followed suit.

  19. I like them… but I ignore them half the time.

  20. twitter updates are dead. i hope you’re all happy. i’ve never in my life never such a snooty group of friends who are too lazy to move their fingers over to the “down” arrow and hit next.

    it’s a sad day. it’s a sad day indeed.

  21. not that it matters now. but i just ignore them. doesn’t bother me.

    it’s your blog.
    do what you want.
nobody reads everything that everyone posts.

  22. This is a question? I don’t “get” them I guess, but I don’t really care. It’s your blog and if you want to post twitter updates or discussions about religion or pictures of the floor after shaving your legs then you should….

(So I know I’m a little late, but I thought that I’d at least enjoy giving me opinion.)
