The Republican & Democratic National Conventions

September 4th, 2008
|

For pure entertainment value I watched the DNC 2 weeks ago and was reminded of a Michael Jackson European tour in the late 80s with people crying and trampling each other to touch the cloak of his garment. It was sad and yet almost understandable to see people so desperate for change that they worked themselves up into an emotional frenzy over a person and a process that by himself can do more lasting change than the previous rich grey heads that have sat in the Oval Office.

For pure sleeping aid, I have watched the RNC the last 2 nights to lull myself to sleep with a bunch of the rich grey heads waking up from their sleep every 5 minutes when a speaker says the word terrorism. It has seriously lacked any energy or “heart” at all. That is until Rudy G – every conservatives whipping boy during the primary until he became a cult hero as the keynote – took the stage. All the rich white people who were driving their SUVs and flying their coach, first class, and chartered planes to the convention started chanting “DRILL BABY DRILL” for close to 5 minutes. It was the loudest they got in 2 days. I’m pretty sure I saw a few people salivate and/or piss their pants.

I’m not sure which convention was more full of fluff. The rock star status that Obama got at the DNC or the Cracker Barrell crowd that fell asleep out of sheer boredome at the RNC.

Oh Come and Rescue Us From This Madness.

You can bet Kucinich’s DNC acceptance speech would have been a hit, especially the part about aliens.

That would have been AWESOME.

To me, it seems like the Republicans are moving away from the ideal, and the Democrats are moving toward it, at least a little … The Dems had Donald Miller pray, which was a damn site better than having Cowboy Troy recite the pledge of allegiance.

today while painting i had a conversation with my boss about how sad these conventions are. the lack of genuine discourse is not only disappointing but also shows just how much respect these candidates have for the general populace: none.

i think its a genuine disservice to the people of this country (or any country for that matter) to spend so much money and time saying and doing really nothing that is going to effect any real change on peoples lives.

somehow i found myself in front of a television tonight watching a few minutes of McCains speech and was appalled at the lack of substance found within his speech. In fact, it lacked any substance whatsoever. He just jumped from one “hoorah” phrase to the other, pausing for cheers (and effect) in between.

it baffles me that anyone would wonder why their is an entire generation of people who could give two shits less about what these politicians have to say. you have to be brain dead to believe anything they say.

The RNC went from boring to downright disgusting when they showed that “9/11 Tribute” video.

I would like to write, “no words” but I have a hell of a lot of them! I would also like to write words like tird head, fart breaths, and italian bad words my grandma taught me. I would also like to say that the RNC reminded me of that movie 32 days or something where the zombies come out and eat all the other humans. Seriously, I think the REp would become man eating zombies if it meant less taxes and more drilling. Hell I saw foam coming out of my parents mouths and they had dressed up a rat in a tiny democrate uniform and they were eating it alive. Oh oh and butthead is a good one too.

Joe,

Whether you intended that as a full-fledged attempt at a joke or not, that comment verged on slander.

He never said he saw aliens. He said he saw a UFO, which stands for “unidentified flying object,” not “Ugly Flaming alien flying Object.” He has over and over said he didn’t know what he saw……because it was unidentified, flying, and some kind of object.

And p.s., just to get my biases out there, if you look specifically at policy, guts, courage, and knowledge, Kucinich probably has the most integrity of all the politician crowd in my book.
