I know I shouldn’t expect people to line up and vote because of a single issue (although voters do it all the time with abortion, same-sex marriage, etc). But I find it really intriguing that those who are in a committed and loving same-sex relationship (in the case of the couple who watch our dog) as to why they would vote for McCain-Palin.

Yeah, because Obama-Biden support gay marriage….oh wait…they don’t either. McCain has voted against the protect-marriage amendment thingy twice. Sure, he doesn’t personally support gay marriage, but he doesn’t think the federal government has any say in the matter.
I support gay marriage and gay rights 100%, but neither McCain or Obama do. Sucks.

You are both right. But one thing that I see is how Obama seems to try to show more compassion on various issues. For example, the Saddleback forum. On same-sex marriage Obama said he was against it, but he went on to talk about having compassion for gay couples who want hospital visitation rights. McCain simply stated he was against it, making no mention of wants and needs of gay couples. The same was true of the answers on abortion, and faith-based initiatives. I was not convinced that McCain would make any effort to stand up to discrimination, or that he has any concern for people who don’t share his view.

I dont get why they care. Who cares if they get married? I really do not see any harm in that and it does suprise me that Obama is not outright for it. I think the it might be to get some votes which, while I love Obama, I dont like that. Who knows.

@James. I never thought about homosexual couples not even being able to see each other in the hospital (and I freaking watch Grey’s Anatomy). They are pretty picky about who can visit when and who can get what types of information, and it never dawned on me that a homosexual partner wouldn’t be able to get the “family rights.” Even as someone who believes homosexuality to be outside the plan of God, and doesn’t support gay marriage, I must say that little things like that should be fixed.
