To think that you can buy a Product RED gift bow that is Made In China by labors who are paid and treated sub-standardly seems only fitting. What better way to top a bunch of paper wrapped around a consumeristic gift than a gift bow made by laborers in China being made less than a dollar a day. Way to go America. Way to change the world.
These are 10 things that I think I’m getting pretty damn close to living and understanding. And its encouraging to have someone else put a circle around some of the same themes. I think I’m going to modify this list and use it as my mantra/starting point/values/etc.
When despair for the world grows in me, and I wake in the night at the least sound in fear of what my life and my children's lives may be ... I go and lie down where the wood drake rests in his beauty on the water, and the great heron feeds. I come into the peace of wild things who do not tax their lives with forethought or grief. I come into the presence of still water. And I feel above me the day-blind stars waiting with their light. For a time I rest in the grace of the world, and am free. - Wendell Berry
