You want to know how busy I’ve been . . . I just watched last week’s episode this afternoon. After 2 days of missing it though I decided to just push it to Thursday anyway so I could have a bunch of momentum going into tonight’s episode. Plus when you read half the spoilers, you’re not missing much. So this week’s recap will cover both last week and this week.
As a random side note, you really may want to check out this theory if you’re a nerd and enjoy complicated time travel theories.
Ben said he used to have dreams too. So creepy.
And OMG what the hell was Richard Alpert doing there?
Locke telling Hugo that “the Dharma Initiative were the people making all of that ranch dressing that he loves so much” was the funniest non-Sawyer line ever given on LOST.
So the Dharma Initiative was killed off by Ben 12 years ago.
What’s up with Locke drawing smoke that kills people?
Which of these things belong to you? Does that mean that Locke was a reincarnation of Jacob? Or can see the future? And Alpert wanted to if Locke knew which was his in the future?
Alpert was expecting him to pick something else . . . perhaps the Book of Laws . . . which might have to do with the Others code, the one they branded Juliet because of. But maybe Locke was right and picked the knife because that was his in the future. He chose a different path.
Kimmey must have a different protocol from Widmore. And if Widmore knows Ben’s next move, then it’s because there are predetermined rules. Or roles. That’s why Widmore knows where Ben is going. Because either A) either Widmore used to be in Ben’s position. Or B) Widmore and Ben are playing by the same rules. And I’m betting they’re on their way to the temple. But it’s tied into the time travel thing that Ben has used before I think . . . according to this screengrab.
What was Kimmey putting on or strapping into?
What was the guy with Locke in the hospital doing? If he’s with Widmore . . . then were Widmore and Jacob fighting for whose side John would be on?
Did Ben really mean it when he said his time was over? And Locke’s was beginning? If so . . . that’s awesome!
And how in God’s green earth is Christian speaking on behalf of Jacob?
THIS WEEK:
I have no commentary. None at all. It was just insanely good. And I have absolutely no idea how they do this every single week. It’s great writing and great acting and great timing and great storytelling. It’s ridiculous that they are able to sustain what they have for such a long period of time. Absolutely ridiculous.
Yo. Yo. We’re back for your favorite time of the week.
So Jack & Kate did have a little fling before he went all psycho and demanded they go back. Nice to see, but I wondered how things went from naked shower scenes to pill popping, crazy beards. But it was definitely after the court date.
Kind of creepy with Miles knowing that Carl & Danielle had been murdered there. I’m guessing that he can see/hear the dead like we’ve previously seen. I wonder if this means that he will have some special ability to hear the voices that everyone else has trouble deciphering.
I really like how all of the characters have swung in the opposite direction. Sawyer is awesome now acting like a big brother, sweet, sensitive guy.
I wonder what there is to Rose & Bernard’s conversation about Jack offending the “gods” and that’s why he got sick. What has Jack been doing over the last couple of days that led him to the place? For him to receive the same “fate” that Ben received?
It looks like Jack & Juliet are done for. Whoo hoo! Although I feel more sorry for Juliet than any other character.
Charlie is in the third world/space. How does that work? What role do they play in the larger scheme? Who do they receive their “instructions” from? Who tells them what to say? It reminds me of Harry Potter’s fight with Voldemort where his and Voldemort’s wand get caught up together and all of the last victims of Voldemort’s wand come rushing back and Harry’s parents all surround him in the graveyard. That’s what this reminds me of. All of these people have come back from the past/dark/death to help and lead the Losties.
Or I wonder if it gets even more nerdy than that and all of the dead people are just existing on a different time plane. And since they know the future they go back into the past and warn the others in the present. Sort of like the fabric of time gets torn or warped ala Narnia or the Golden Compass.
Charlotte definitely understood Jin and Sun. And it was cool to see Jin foreshadow him getting Sun & daughter off the island.
And then Jack’s proposal scene with Kate. It couldn’t be any more obvious that he’s having to convince himself. But now at least we know why and how he started popping pills. And that heart to heart with Kate & Juliet was just too sweet.
Kate still doing stuff for Sawyer was a nice little spin. That’s obviously what drove Jack further off the deep end. The island really messed them up. I mean really messed them up. Everybody is carrying all kinds of baggage.
I can’t wait to see what happens after the show is finally over and I’m able to go back and watch everything sequentially.
I’ll put spoilers in the comments as they come in.
Many apologies for my lack of posts this week. And for being a day late with my LOST recap. But here goes . . .
Last night was the best episode I’ve seen in about a year. It was crazy. And I no some people won’t be into the whole time travel, sci-fi thing as it develops, but as for me and my house . . . I can’t get enough of it. I absolutely love Desmond. He’s my favorite character by far. He’s the only guy who I truly empathize with. He’s been the one character who hasn’t been all over the place. Evil one week but good the next. Or vice versa. He’s been consistently and hopelessly wrecked because of his separation from Penny. And I love that.
So here are a couple of reflections . . . and ARE NOT spoilers. Just speculation
I think Michael was the one on the boat who left the door open Desmond & Sayid, when Mikownsky said, “Looks like you have a friend on the boat.”
I think it’s Charles Widmore’s boat. And Penny found out about his expedition and that’s how she kept trying to tap into the frequency to contact Desmond. That’s why “their boss” doesn’t want them answering the call when it came from her. It’s her dad and he’s trying to stop her.
Apparently, Desmond’s friends (the priest & the ring lady) from the past also went to Oxford at some point. Perhaps they visited Farraday as well.
I also think Daniel Farraday is experiencing the same things as Desmond. That’s why he put that Desmond will be his constant.
So the real question that begs to be asked is will Desmond be able to control it now? Will he be able to change it? And is this something different than what he experienced when he turned the fail-safe and the hatch imploded?
I wonder if Desmond is really in 1994 and is flashing to the future? Or if what happened in 94 really happened but he just forgot about it? Or is time just moving on multiple planes? But why didn’t he recognize Farraday in the present? So it’s clearly that they can change the course of time and the events in history.
There is also a good theory online that Charlie was Desmond’s first “constant”. Because he saw him in the past and he saw him in the present. And once Charlie died, he lost it and had to find another one.
Another great theory floating around is that the sickness that Danielle described is the same sickness that Desmond was experiencing. Which makes perfect sense. Wish I would have made that connection myself.
Crazy theory time . . . Jack and Kate go back to the island but do so in the far past and are the skeletons in the cave. Thus when they go back, they do so not in the present, but in the past, in order to change the events that will happen in the future. That’s really crazy I know. But the time travel stuff changes everything.
I didn’t get a chance to really spend any time on the message boards this week, which is where I get all my crazy theories and spoilers. I had a little thing called work. Surprising right?
Anyway . . . here are a couple of thoughts from last week that I never developed or thought more about.
Maybe Dharma is pissed at Ben because they never found out about the purge. And Ben has been working as a double agent for them. Going back and forth, lying to Dharma.
R.G. on Naomi’s bracelet is Regina on the ship. She sounds like Naomi. So perhaps she is Naomi’s sister as well.
Now for this week . . .
A couple of things first before I get into the Aaron, Kate’s baby talk.
Jack said that only 8 people survived the plane crash. But there are only 6 in the “Oceanic 6″. They obviously fabricated a whole story. So why 8 people? Were there really 8 people? Or was that just part of the story? And 2 more got off the island but didn’t make it to the mainland? Or 2 died while on the island? I thought that was an odd number to throw out.
Also . . . Daniel Faraday (Farday Cage?) and Charlotte with the cards? He picked 2 out of the 3 cards and was disappointed? Almost like everyone else was able to pick out all 3 of the cards or more. And Daniel is the only one who still can’t do it. So do they have the ability to see into the future? Or are they like Desmond?
I think we’re going to see more time travel, time warps, worm holes, and parallel universe stuff develop in the mythology of the show. So perhaps it’s something like that. I again reiterate my point that I don’t think any of the people who landed on the island are “bad” people. I think they just happen to be working for Dharma as agents or scientists. Although Miles seemed to know enough about everything going on with Ben and knew how powerful he was. And knew that Ben could get 3.2 million in only a week? So there is another way on and off the island besides the sub? Perhaps there is a time warp/portal somewhere on the island?
Anyway . . . 2 things with Aaron. My belief is that it’s Sawyer & Kate’s baby and not Claire’s Aaron. Although it’s possible that Jack wouldn’t want to come by and hang out with Kate and Aaron and have a relationship with Kate because it would be weird for him to assume the father role and be his uncle, I just don’t think that’s the case. I think Jack is just freaked out because it’s Sawyer’s baby. I also have a theory that Sawyer dies some point soon and sacrifices himself for Kate, Jack, and/or everyone. Which probably just adds another layer of complexity for Jack and freaks him out. But it’s good to see he still has feelings for her. At least for now.
There are spoilers below in a document. Feel free to scroll through at your risk.
