Opening Day Predicitions 2008.

I was a little off last year. But this year it’ll be different.

AMERICAN LEAGUE
East – Boston Red Sox (the Yankees are still a mess and I hate them)
Central – Detroit Tigers (I’d be scared to death if I was a pitcher)
West – Seattle Mariners (I like their manager and if King Felix can stay healthy . . . watch out)
Wild Card – Cleavland Indians (they didn’t come near what they could have done last year, they were scratching the surface; and my pick for the World Series if the Sox can’t get their pitching healthy)

MVP – Miguel Cabrera
Cy Young – Felix Rodriguez (I’m really just taking a flier on this, but if he’s healthy, he’s going to be really good)

NATIONAL LEAGUE
East – Philadelphia Phillies (as much as I hate to admit it, the Braves have solid but unhealthy pitching)
Central – Chicago Cubs (they’ve got more than enough pitching this year)
West – Los Angeles Dodgers (this division is wide open, but I think the Dodgers can pull it off. Torre is going to help big time and Kemp and Loney are going to explode out of nowhere. But you could just as easily tell me the Diamondbacks and Rockies will take the next step forward)
Wild Card – Atlanta Braves (I like the Braves but I’m a homer, offense will be more than solid and if the starting pitching can stay healthy, they could be a big surprise)

MVP – Mark Texeria or Utley
Cy Young – Tim Hudson or Brad Penny (Santana will win it and the Mets will make the playoffs but I hate them more than I hate the Yankees)

World Series: Indians over the Braves

Steroids In Baseball: The Mitchell Report.

Apparently, Barry Bonds wasn’t the only player who gained 100 pounds of added muscle and 10 hat sizes. The Mitchell Report came out today and Roger Clemens, Andy Pettitte, Eric Gagne, Troy Glaus, Rick Ankiel, and Miguel Tejada were some of the big name players to get named for using steroids. Maybe I’m just happy because I hate the Yankees and I love to see their “momma’s boys” take hits. But honestly it’s about time. I could have cared less if they would have just come out in the beginning, said they did, it was a mistake, and they were sorry. But to lie to our faces for these past few years is just ridiculous. So now, not only do I not respect you as players, but I don’t respect you as people. You thought we were dumb and we probably were for not picking up on it sooner. But now, you can’t lie to our faces anymore. Good news Raffy, Sammy, and McGwire. You’ve got company in your group of people who spit on the game of baseball. The only person who I’ve got respect for is Giambi because he had enough guts to come clean. Even if he was backed into a corner. Something is better than nothing.
