Call Me Cheesy.
These pics are kind of cheesy, but I was feeling it at the time.
It was a bit colder today and wind was still kicking pretty fierce. Which sent me on an a quest for an allusive pair of shorts that could slide in my #2 spot in the rotation. I currently have 3 pairs of solid shorts. But I only wear one pair regularly. And by regularly I mean 4 or 5 times in a row. It should also be mentioned that I go commando. TMI I’m sure. But it’s the way to go. Well needless to say I need another solid #2 option. My current #2 is really more like a #3 option. By getting this second pair of shorts, I can effectively bump my whole rotation back one and put everybody in role that suits them much better than what they’ve been asked to do with their current roles. It’s like Tom Glavine. He’s a great #3 or #4 starter at this point in his career. But he was being asked to be a #1 last year for the Mets. But with the Braves he can relax and settle in at #3.
Long story short . . . I found a pair that I liked. After 3 stores, some price shopping, and getting some fabric that is conducive to Vespa riding without flashing oncoming traffic. Catch my drift?
This afternoon I took a short ride along the beach. The light was perfect and the sand was blowing up and creating some cool effects for the light. Kind of like smoke at a rock show. So I scooted back and got the camera and then went back for a walk along the beach. The sun looked so good when I shot directly at it that I kept doing it over and over. I know it’s probably not the professional way to shoot a sunset, but it was giving the shots such a nice burned, lomo look that I kept shooting. Here a few . . .
I hate to say it but I might have been a bit ambitious with the Vespa Blog. But as of right now . . . I’m calling it dead. It’s over. R.I.P. From now on, all my exciting Vespa rides will be posted here.
Today I took a nice, slow 50 mile loop along the coast. The wind was kicking at 30 miles an hour. And a couple of times almost took me off the road as you can see by the sand gusting across the road.
I also had a really hard day at work. Let’s see . . . my day consisted of taking a Vespa ride in the morning. Working for an hour out on the deck as indicated by the pictures below. Went and ate a pound of Royal Reds in a spicy boil at lunch. Went for a 50 mile Vespa ride. Walked a quarter mile to the beach and took Rabbi Heschel with me. I ended up taking some photos of the sunset and a kite surfer. Now I’m sitting back with a whiskey sour and waiting on my grill cheese with applewood bacon, and peppercorn turkey to finish up. At the risk of pissing everybody off who actually do legitimate work . . . I love the rhythms of my life.
Anna and I are in Destin for a week staying with her parents for part of it and some friends for another. We drove in last night and listened to the Omnivore’s Dilemma on the way down which means I’m probably never eating meat again. This morning Anna and her mom went for a walk along the beach. And me and her dad unloaded the Vespa from the inside (like a glove) of the Element. I then took a quick ride along the beach front. The wind was gusting at 25 miles an hour which made things a little squirrelly. Which I can deal with were it not for the thousands chards of sand slicing my face open like little bits of glass. Anyway . . . went back and got my helmet to protect me from the sand and then drove around and took a few pictures. Now I’m going to listen to G. Love, take a shower in an outdoor shower, and do a little bit of work before lunch. Here are a few pics from this morning’s drive.
The most important being that I topped off the tank with the high grade gas at $3.43 and will get 80 or so miles out of that. Even at the high end of the gas spectrum . . . that’s pretty freaking amazing. Jealous?
Me and my favorite 2 people (Anna and the baby in the oven).
I took some pictures while were in New Orleans over New Year’s with my lomo camera. I didn’t edit them at all outside of adding some frames around them. This camera is a love/hate deal. I can take 1 photo and it comes out incredible fuzzy and then I can take another shot immediately and it might come out bright and popping. It really is unpredictable. Here’s my full lomo set on Flickr and here’s my previous post on lomography.
